Lost Phone In Mexico
Author: GlobeTrotter
I was in Mexico on a winter vacation recently and I lost my cell phone. It was scary to be in a strange country with no way to communicate with people from home. The friend I was with suggested I buy a cheap calling card. I had to look around for a while until I found one. I ended up coming across a vendor who seemed honest and the deal was pretty good so I bought it.
It was such a relief to get on the phone with my parents, I told them all about losing my phone and that they should arrange to get it cancelled. They were happy to hear from me. I never got my phone back, but I did learn something on that vacation—to bring calling cards with me wherever I travel.
Don’t Let Cell Phone Charges Get You Down!

Cell phones can be such a rip off sometimes. One month my service provider charged me $100 on top of my normal fees. I had used extra minutes and texted more often than I usually would, but I couldn’t believe it was $100 extra. That’s when I started to think about alternatives. I really needed to cut down on the cell phone minutes I used, but how?
I finally figured it out! I would buy several cheap long distance phone cards and use those as an alternative to my cell phone. It was a perfect plan because there was a payphone near my apartment and I could use that with my calling cards.
