Discount telephone calling cards

The world is indeed getting smaller and smaller. Thanks to global technology, people living distances away from each other can still stay connected. Telecommunication is far more advanced today than, say, a decade ago.

One way to stay connected is through the Internet. The Internet can allow two people who are miles away from each other to chat using the keyboard or even to talk. Even correspondences can be delivered via electronic mail or e-mail. Another way to stay connected with loved ones abroad is through the telephone. Long distance phone calls may be costly. However, discount telephone calling cards are available that provide phone access to different citied worldwide at a lower rate.

When traveling to a new country for a much-deserved vacation, one must be ready for the unexpected. Travel entails you to do some research on the place and to arm yourself with enough knowledge to move around on your own. Here are some survival tips when traveling on your own:

~List your itinerary. After doing some research on where to go and what to do, jot them down and have the list with you at all times. This way you get to maximize your trip and avoid ending up doing nothing.~Befriend the locals. Although this is not always a wise thing to do, especially when you have to be wary of your pockets getting picked or your wallet getting stolen, the locals know the ins and outs of their community more than you. Hook up with a local tourist guide to show you around.

~Travel light. Avoid bulky luggage. It will be easier for you to move around and check in and out of airport and hotels without having to worry about your luggage.

~Stay connected. Get a cheap international calling card to let your family, friends, or even boss, know where you are and how you’re doing. A card may come in handy in emergencies.

Lost Phone In Mexico

cheap calling cardI was in Mexico on a winter vacation recently and I lost my cell phone. It was scary to be in a strange country with no way to communicate with people from home. The friend I was with suggested I buy a cheap calling card. I had to look around for a while until I found one. I ended up coming across a vendor who seemed honest and the deal was pretty good so I bought it.

It was such a relief to get on the phone with my parents, I told them all about losing my phone and that they should arrange to get it cancelled. They were happy to hear from me. I never got my phone back, but I did learn something on that vacation—to bring calling cards with me wherever I travel.

cheap long distance phone cards

Cell phones can be such a rip off sometimes. One month my service provider charged me $100 on top of my normal fees. I had used extra minutes and texted more often than I usually would, but I couldn’t believe it was $100 extra. That’s when I started to think about alternatives. I really needed to cut down on the cell phone minutes I used, but how?

I finally figured it out! I would buy several cheap long distance phone cards and use those as an alternative to my cell phone. It was a perfect plan because there was a payphone near my apartment and I could use that with my calling cards.

collectible telephone calling cards

Many people are familiar with prepaid calling cards, but not everyone knows that they have a somewhat unusual hobby associated with them. While the majority of people collect telephone calling cards to contact loved ones who live far away, others collect them…just to collect them.

The fad started when the calling cards began featuring embellished advertisements and artwork. Others even bore the images of famous celebrities. A surge of people were taken with the artistic look and began stashing them away after the minutes were used.

Although the trend has been in decline lately, there are still numerous websites that feature particularly impressive individual collections. Users can browse images of the cards and read their accompanying stories.

In Britain, the trend is known as fusilately, and a collector is a fusilatelist. In America, the term is telegery.

If your child has gone off to college, you are most likely feeling a mixture of emotions; and it’s probably some combination of excitement, fear, and hope. If this is the first time your child has spent any extended time away from home, you are also feeling an awful lot of anxiety. How will they cope with finals? New roommates? Peer pressure?

One of the easiest ways to alleviate some of this stress is to keep the lines of communication open. And the easiest way to do that is with prepaid calling cards. These cards allow you to easily call your child, even if they are in a different state…or country.

Depending on the calling card you choose, you can get amazingly low rates on long distance calls. So long as you do your research and find the best deal for your situation, you can find discounts that beat your cell phone’s current international rates or your land line’s domestic long distance rates.
